Here is my short biography. I have completed studies of Graphic Arts in Kaunas College of Arts in Lithuania 1999, then I did training courses in Desktop Publishing in London in 2001, and then I completed studies and received a Diploma in Art Direction Visual Communications, AAA School of Advertising in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 2004. I have had a dynamic past 10 years in terms of education and practical experience. That created an opportunity to summit all up with my current Graphic Arts BA study at Liverpool John Moores.
While traveling, living, studying I have also been able to totally fulfill any visual artist’s dream – observe. I have been taking photographs all the time. One of my recent personal creative projects is a book (it’s name is a secret yet) which is a selection of the photographs taken in the past ten years. I feel that celebrating ten years away from Lithuania, where I am originally from, will allow me to get on with ideas and projects about today and the future.
It is really hard for me to identify myself only as a Graphic Designer, Photographer, Film-Maker or a Fine Artist. I found Francis Alys story rather inspiring and supportive in terms of my overall tendencies in the creative practice. Definitely have a look at My Delicious in the links section, there you will find people that I admire for what they do. To summit it up I would call myself an Art Director and Graphic Designer according to my qualifications so far, a media (video and photo) artist by activities, a philosopher by nature, a researcher by orientation and a culture observer by hobby.
I am very glad to be in Liverpool now and be able to collaborate with a great bunch of artists and be able to see their works of arts – be it sound, video, illustration, installation or photography. For the past 1 year I have been having fun experimenting with previously untouched medias such as filming and creative workshops. I will try and keep this web space up to date.
This is what I have been up to for the past few years.
